I’m excited to announce that a new series on Amanda’s Wanderlust is set to showcase the SW England sustainable tourism industry at it’s best…
While researching the numerous sustainable travel options available to visitors to the UK, I have made an awesome discovery…
The region where I live, the South West of England, has so many great responsible tourism initiatives that it may just be the sustainable tourism capital of the UK!
SW England sustainable tourism
So I’ve decided to showcase some of the wonderful examples of sustainable tourism from my home region in a new series; featuring Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire (the six counties that make up the South West).
I will not only feature some of the best eco-accommodation providers, but also attractions and events with an environmentally conscious approach at the centre of their business model.
I also plan to explore some of the important ways that tourism can put back into the communities of the South West, and feature sustainable ways to get about the region, by public transport, bike or on foot!
See for yourself
I’m proud of my home region and all that it has to offer, and I hope that this series will inspire international visitors to the UK to come and experience for themselves just how much South West England sustainable tourism has to offer.
But since air travel continues to be one of the fastest growing sources of carbon emissions, I also hope to encourage more British people to stay in the UK for a holiday; supporting the local economy, rewarding best practice and reducing the carbon footprint of their vacation.
First Stop
The new series starts shortly in Cornwall, so don’t forget to stop by and check out the first post, which will feature Merlin Farm Holiday Cottages in Cornwall.
Will you join me in celebrating SW England sustainable tourism?
